How much of this paint is really recycled? Over 95% of the contents of the paint.
Can the white paint be tinted? No, its not a white base. Since I come from the decorative painting world, one could add universal tint to the white base and experiment but you must understand if a gallon of white comes from batch A and the next from batch B, they will probably take tint differently. For orders over 1000 gallons, Metro Wallworks can custom match your color and sheen.
Is there anything weird about recycled paint? Not anything weirder than recycled paper or glass. The paints is filtered and scrubbed and meets quality the quality standards of major paint manufactures. Keep in mind that it is recycled although the colors are the same each batch will be different in chemical make-up.
What are the VOC levels of the paint? The VOC levels range per batch but they are never higher than 250 per gallon. Most of the time they range in the 150 range. The paint has both its Green Seal and MPI Green rating.
How am I helping by using this paint? You are making a difference two different ways. First for every gallon of recycled paint you buy you are decreasing the demand for virgin paint. Every 10 gallons uses 1000 kilo watt hours in the production cycle. That is the same amount of energy an average home uses in a month. Secondly, disposing of and handling paint is a huge expense to local governments and potentially very hazardous to our environment. One gallon of paint disposed of improperly can pollute 250,000 gallons of drinking water. Its already been made, lets put it back on the walls where it belongs.
Do I have to buy this in Escondido? Currently, yes. We will announce more locations as soon as we can. Metro Wallworks isn't a paint store and is a small distributor and training center for high end architectural coatings. Our address is 2065 South Escondido Blvd. Escondido 92025. Delivery is available for orders over 100 gallons.
Why doesn't my local paint store sell recycled paint? I'm just speculating, but there isn't a lot of benefit for them. They have contracts with large paint manufactures and this would cut into what is purchased from them. Once a consumer demand has reached a certain level they will jump in but until that is reached it doesn't hold much of a benefit.
Will you take back any paint that I don't use? Yes, Metro Wallworks will take back any of our paint.
